You’ve left the business or the Scheme
The National Gas Transmission Pension Scheme is a defined benefit (DB) scheme. Your deferred benefits stay in the Scheme until you’re ready to start taking your pension. When you die, your partner or dependant receives a pension.
Alternatively, if you decide not to take your benefits from the Scheme, you can transfer out.

Pension increase for 2026
Your Scheme pension is reviewed each year and is increased in April in line with inflation, as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) for the previous September.
A change to the Trustee Board
We wrote to you in January 2025 confirming that the Trustee of the Scheme was required to run a process for the appointment of Member Nominated Trustee Directors (MNTDs), and inviting applicants.
